Infant Family Associate
Infant Family Associates observe and assess infants, young children, parents, and their relationships—both informally and, in some cases, formally—to identify key developmental milestones, behaviors, and the foundations of secure relationships. They support parents in seeking appropriate care during pregnancy, reinforce parental strengths and emerging competencies, and encourage positive parent-child interactions.
Infant Family Associates have an awareness of conditions that promote early brain development and can recognize when additional support from other service providers is needed, referring such cases to a supervisor. They help families understand infant and family relationship development while applying cultural competence to foster effective communication and respectful relationships.
These professionals excel at building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships with both families and colleagues. They respect family decision-making, honor cultural beliefs and practices, and follow through on commitments. Additionally, they collaborate with service providers to ensure child safety, coordinate services, and promote relationship-focused approaches. They also work constructively to resolve conflicts and create mutually beneficial solutions within interagency and professional settings.
